The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation -ZNBC- is saddened at the passing on of its two former employees, Dominic Chimanyika and Chanda Chiimba the third.
The two passed on separately on Friday March 9, 2018.
ZNBC Corporate Affairs Manager Yvette Chanda says the deaths are a loss not only to their families but to the journalism fraternity as they contributed immensely to the growth of broadcast journalism in Zambia.
Mrs. Chanda says Mr. Chiimba had wide experience as a Television Producer at ZNBC, who in his later years became a staunch advocate in the fight against Prostrate Cancer, a disease to which he succumbed.
On Mr. Chimanyika, she described him as a veteran Sports journalist who served ZNBC in many capacities including Head of Sports and Manager News.
Mrs. Chanda said ZNBC Management has wished the families of its two former employees comfort during the trying period.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZNBC News in Lusaka today by Mrs. Chanda.
Meanwhile, ZNBC Director of Programmes Rose Chumpuka who has been to the funeral house of Mr. Chimanyika described his death as a great loss to the media fraternity.
Ms. Chumpuka says the late Chimanyika was a selfless journalist who pushed journalism to greater heights.
She says during his practice at ZNBC, Mr. Chimanyika trained and mentored many journalists, apart from showing great commitment to his work.
Mr. Chimanka died on Friday at the University Teaching Hospital after an illness.
And immediate young brother of the late Mr. Chimanyika, Ignatius described his brother as a great man who believed in God and loved his family dearly.
