The Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- has seized 15 trucks for failing to provide true and correct documentation related to consignments they were transporting.
This is part of the over 53 trucks that were detained for verification.
ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda says some trucks are carrying ethanol wrongly classified as methanol.
He says other trucks were carrying second hand clothes misclassified as new clothing, alcoholic beverages and non-energy serving bulbs.
Mr. Sikalinda says an assortment of goods that have been seized and currently being held at Makeni Yard are worth 7-point 2 million Kwacha.
He has urged transporters and importers to desist from smuggling as it promotes unfair competition and affects market prices negatively.
